As Seen in D.C.

After the beach, Chicago, and now D.C., I feel like I've been living out of a suitcase for the whole month of April! While I love traveling as much as life itself, it's nice to rest at home every now and then as well. I was in D.C. for a constitutional competition (I know, cool, right?) with my government class, and we had a great time! Here are some snapshots.

This was absolutely one of the best trips I've been on throughout my high school career. It was great to bond with my friends as our graduation date draws closer by the day. We may have not won at the competition, but I'm sure we had the most fun out of any team there!

Shades of Blue

These photos were taken on one of my favorite days from my trip to the beach a few weeks ago! We went to the cutest town called Seaside. Think cute boutiques, pop-up shops, food trucks, and an outdoor bazaar with the most perfect arrangements of clothing you could ever see. It's always a good time in Seaside!

Weekend in the Windy City

I spent this past weekend in the lovely city of Chicago. I'd never been before, so it was quite an experience. Between viewing the skyline, shopping down the Magnificent Mile, and visiting the Bean in Millennium Park, I'd say the trip was wonderful. Here are a few snapshots from the weekend.

The Bean - A marriage proposal happened at the same time we were there - it was quite exciting and incredibly adorable!

The Chicago skyline - This photo does not do this sight justice in the slightest. It was so enchanting to see the entire skyline across Lake Michigan.

The Chicago Art Institute - If you didn't know, I have a thing for Monet's work. This museum had around 20 or 25 Monet originals, including the famous Lilly Pads! They were incredible to see in person.

The Magnificent Mile - If you've never been, think of it as a toned down Madison Avenue. The shops were lovley, as were these Macarons from an adorable spot called Argo Cafe!

Shake Shack - I've realized it's quite impossible to see a Shake Shack and not stop for lunch.

The view from our hotel - I couldn't believe how much of the city we could see! Everything was gorgeous at night. I only wish I'd captured a picture at sunrise.

American Breeze

These pictures are 100% giving me post-beach-depression. I've already been back for more than a week, but I still miss it just the same. School is coming to a close, so I know I'll be back in the sand in due time!

Things to look for: a Chicago re-cap (just got home last night), and a D.C. recap (to come next week)! Make sure you're following my adventures on my Instagram: caitlinmarie17.

Slim Aarons Photography Inspiration

Every now and then I'll come across a photo that seems to portray the ideal lifestyle - think poolside lounging, tennis and polo matches, days out on the sea and all the works. It wasn't until recently that I realized these photos all had one thing in common: they were taken by a wonderful photographer named Slim Aarons. Every single photograph of his makes you want to gather up a group of friends and walk right into the warm and inviting life he captures so well, which is why I wanted to share some of my favorites!

Life on the Shore

I miss the beach much more than I'd like to. The week I spent there went by much too quickly! I got a little taste of summer, but, unfortunately, I'm stuck in reality once again. Reality isn't looking too bad, though, because I'll be in Chicago later this week and DC the next! You can count on some pictures, for sure. Until they're up on the blog, make sure you're following along on my travel adventures through my Instagram!

Kendra Scott - Summer Preview

If there's one thing I adore, it's Kendra Scott jewelry (remember this post?). You can imagine how delighted I was when they offered to send me a preview of their summer line, the Via Maya collection. The whole set comes out April 15th, and, from what I've seen so far, it's wonderful. The colors are perfectly vibrant and the jewelry itself is stunning, as always. Take a peek at the collection in my photos below and by clicking here

Don't forget to check out the collection on April 15th!
