Sweaters and Sunny Skies

The best part about fall? Sweaters. I love finding perfect sweaters that I know I'll where much too often on chilly days. I recently got the sweater below off of a clothing exchange that I'm a part of on Facebook, and I have to say, it's super comfortable. (And cute, too!) It's a little over-sized, so I wore it with leggings and riding boots. When it get's a little colder, I'll probably put a button-down under it for layering and wear my J. Crew field jacket.

Wednesday Whims

Wednesday Whims
agenda/hair ties/pink phone case/scalloped phone case/bangle/sweater is one of the cutest websites ever. They have the most adorable desk accessories and jewelry, as well as other things, too! Everything but the sweater above is from, and honestly, I want (need) it all. I can't believe I'm only just discovering this wonderful brand, but I know I'll be frequenting the site way more often now. (Their Instagram is adorable, too! Their username is: shopbando. Check them out!)

Goodnight Macaroon
I can't get over the purely chic and classy style of Goodnight Macaroon. They nail everything they make, as you can see in the sweater above. They also have the most perfect trench coat ever. Do yourself a favor and head over to their website! I spend way too much time filling up my cart...

Weekend Recap: Homecoming!

This weekend was my last homecoming ever, and out of the four I've been to, this one was absolutely the best. To sum it up, we lost our homecoming game horribly (41-14!), my best friend won homecoming queen, I got my nails done, then my hair at DryBar, and finally, we had a giant picture party and pot luck dinner before going to the dance. Here are some pictures!

Wintry Wishes

I cannot get thoughts of Winter out of my head! I have Christmas music on loop in the back of my mind,  I'm dreaming of ice skating in the snow, and, of course, the excitement surrounding Christmas and holiday shopping. I'm not sure where this sudden obsession came from, but it might have something to do with the fact that I'm heading to New York this December! (I went this past summer and immediately wanted to return ASAP.) Also, Winter means a large amount of school stress will be lifted off of my shoulders because first semester will be over!

So, to fuel my Winter cravings, I've decided to share my favorite Winter coats for the season!

RayBan Clubmasters
I've been in love with these sunglasses for the longest time, but I can never get myself to actually purchase them! I have a similar pair from Target, but it would be amazing to have the real thing. RayBans are quality and classic; there's not much more to it.

Infinity Scarf
My closet is extremely lacking in the scarf department, so this year, I'm going to try to make an improvement there. I've never seen myself as a scarf person, per se, but I'll give it a go eventually...

Chevron Sweater
J. Crew Factory always has the cutest sweaters. I want this in my wardrobe so badly! I know it would be super cute with either riding boots or bean boots.

Plaid Scarf
I originally saw this scarf in a post from Carly of The College Prepster and though it was adorable! I loved the way she styled it and I really hope I can get it into my hands sometime soon to create an outfit of my own.

Figuring Out Where to Start

This past summer, I was hit with the realization that I would have to apply for college in the fall. Of course, I had known this for a while, but it didn't seem real until then. I was immediately overwhelmed as I had no idea whatsoever where to start. The essays were what was really getting to me because I had so many to write, yet no idea what to write about. I'm now smack in the middle of the process, and since the summer, I've learned a lot about breaking down extremely immense tasks, so I thought I would share my tips.

picture via
1.  Take Notes
Before starting anything, look at what you have to do, and make lists/take notes on the topic. If it's an essay, brainstorm by typing out your thoughts on the prompt and possible phrases you want to use. If it's a big assignment, do a little research and take some notes that skim the surface so you can have an idea about what you want to do.

2. Set Aside Time
Instead of feeling like you have to work hours and hours on end on something, set a timer for thirty minutes or an hour and simply stop working once that time is up. You'll have accomplished something without feeling like you've spent too much time on it.

3. Put Your Phone Away
Seriously, this is a must. I personally like to put my phone in my sock drawer so I'm not tempted to touch it. Make sure to put it somewhere where you can still hear a timer go off, though, if you're going to use tip #2.

4. Make a To-Do List
But not a to-do list for the entire project. Take a few minutes to figure out what you want to get done for the chunk of time you've set aside to work on your task. This is essential to breaking up your project into manageable parts. Plus, who doesn't love checking off a box on a to-do list?

5. Give Yourself Mini-Deadlines
Write down a few dates and what you want to have done by those on a sticky note and place it where you'll see it often. This will allow you to meet smaller goals in order to achieve the larger goal of completing your project.

What are your tips for breaking down large tasks?

Don't Work When You're Hungry

I've recently gotten into a habit of getting home from school only to work, work, and then work some more. I have a hard time allowing myself any free time because I feel like I'm cheating myself by not doing work. I've been sticking to a schedule of starting blog work, school work, and college application work as soon as I get home, and not allowing myself any breaks (except for the quick Instagram check) until everything is done. This is not good.

Most of the time, I'll feel super tired while working and I'll realize that it's because I haven't eaten. This generally causes me to be impatient, making it so my work is not as good as it could be. But, eating a meal constitutes a break so I try to snack while I work, but that's never substantial enough.

The other day, I took 15 minutes to sit down with an actual meal when I got home from school and it changed so much for me. I immediately regained energy, and I felt great while doing my homework. (Well, as good as you can feel doing homework.) 15 minutes allowed me to refocus my energy and actually relax for a change, rather than jumping from one activity to the next.

The lesson here is that you have to allow yourself time now and then to just do nothing. I've had a hard time balancing everything lately, so doing nothing, or taking a break, rather, gives me a bit of anxiety. Now, I just need to start following my own advice...

How do you all make time for breaks?

Kate Spade Heels
I cannot tell you how many times I have walked past these in Von Maur at the mall. They are basically the most adorable heels in the world. Who doesn't love a good bow? I really need a reason to purchase these as I don't wear heels too often, but I know I'll find one soon enough.

Plaid Shirt
I'm obsessed with plaid. Whenever I see a perfect plaid shirt, such as this one from L.L. Bean, I always have the urge to purchase it. Perfect plaid is hard to come by! (In my eyes at least...) Plus, it's getting to that plaid-every-day type of weather.

Kate Spade Bag
It looks as though this post has a little bit of a theme to it! I've been searching for a new purse for a while, and this one seems to fit all my criterion. I love having a handle because using a shoulder strap after a while tends to get painful, especially if I'm carrying around my camera. (Which I often am!)

Atlanta Map Print
If you haven't yet, I highly recommend giving Evelyn Henson's site a look. I discovered her site when Carly of The College Prepster made a post about her! She creates the cutest prints alongside the map prints I featured in this post. I definitely plan on getting a few to decorate my dorm when I go to college next fall!

Pumpkins and Plaid

Every year, my family and I go to a pumpkin patch to take pictures. The weather is usually horribly hot, but this year, we got lucky with some clouds. It's always so much fun to see the different colors, shapes, and sizes of the pumpkins! Plus, there were some outlet shops on the way home, which was definitely an added bonus. :)

Feeling Fall Linkup

I was invited to this great linkup by Carrie from! (Definitely check her blog out at one point; it's so cute!) For the linkup, we're supposed to post an outfit styling our favorite fall scarf and answer a few questions. So here we go!

And now for the questions.

1. What is your favorite fall trend?

Definitely sweaters and layering. I've amassed so many sweaters recently that I could probably go a straight month before having to re-wear one. It's an addiction, I know. I absolutely adore the look of a crisp oxford under a cable-knit sweater. I can't wait for it to get warmer so I can finally start wearing them!

2. What is your favorite fall Starbucks drink?

The Pumpkin Spice Latte, of course! I recently tried it iced instead of getting it hot like normal, and for some reason, it seems to me that it tastes better iced! I also get mine with soy milk because I'm lactose intolerant. It's about 45 cents extra to get soy milk, but I think it makes lattes/frappuccinos taste better. It's healthier, too!

3. If you could only wear one pair of boots for this whole fall season, which pair would they be?

As seen in the photos above, it would have to be my L.L. Bean Boots. I got them over the summer in anticipation for fall, and no lie, I wear them at least three days a week. They're so comfortable and they match practically everything!

4. What is your favorite fall activity?

As the weather gets cooler, I love going on hikes! Seeing the changing colors in the trees is just so much fun. Plus, the weather is cool enough where you won't have to worry about sweating and feeling gross!

5 Things You Forget to Clean

Messes always seem to add up in the places you least expect them. One day I'll be going through a drawer or my purse and realize just how out of hand my organization has gotten. (Same thing happens with my room...) But, I've recently realized that there are a bunch of hidden messes that you really never think about. So, here they are!

5 Things You Forget to Clean

A few weeks ago, I was trying to find a picture on my computer and I just could not track it down. I realized that I needed to up my game in terms of photo organization! It's really helpful to just sit down and put all your extraneous pictures, documents, etc into folders in order to have easy access in the future.

Another tip: sort through your bookmarks from time to time! I always bookmark the most random things and never even use that link again. They eventually add up, making it hard to find the bookmark you're really looking for! (Oh, and did you know you can put bookmarks into folders??)

If you're anything like me, then you have tons, and I mean tons, of pictures stored on a bunch of different SD cards. It's really important to free up space from time to time so you don't find yourself with a full SD card at a friend's party. I take pictures for my school's football and ultimate frisbee teams, so I find myself clearing pictures from my SD cards all the time. Once you go to delete pictures, I'm sure you'll find a ton you never knew were even there!

This should be done with the photos on your phone, too. I have way too many screenshots and random selfies that just need to be deleted every now and then.

Backpack/Large Bag
I have no idea how, but random papers/snack wrappers/pencils/receipts always end up at the bottom of my backpack. I don't even remember putting those things in there half the time... I always try to sort through whatever adds up in my backpack at least a few times a semester. (Truthfully, that's more like once a semester.)

Makeup Bag
I am honestly so bad at keeping up with what's going on in my makeup bag. I always forget to check what's expiring and so I'll end up with a bag filled halfway with unusable makeup. It's so easy to just buy new stuff and throw it in your makeup bag, leaving all the old mascara, blush, and eye-shadow to waste away at the bottom. Make a mental note to dig through your makeup bag once every month or two!

Receipts, crumpled bills, change, used gift cards, and even a chapstick or two always end up clogging my wallet to the point where I end up embarrassing myself at the checkout counter because I'm frantically searching for my ID. The best way to stop this from happening (which I really need to do more often) is to take everything out of your wallet every other week or so and organize it all.

What other things do you forget to clean?

Wednesday Whims

Wednesday Whimes

sweater//shirt//dot sweater//socks

It just so happens that this week's Wednesday Whims all come from J. Crew! I guess that's not too much of a surprise, considering my obsession with it... I've been lusting over this gingham shirt for much too long now and I really hope I find it in my closet sometime soon. It would be perfect for layering once it starts to get chillier!

I also keep coming back to the two sweaters, which would also be great layering pieces. J. Crew always manages to come up with the best sweaters, and it looks as though they've succeeded once again with these new arrivals!

Also, J. Crew's camp socks are the best. things. ever. I recently got a pair, and let me tell you, they're are the warmest and snuggest pair of socks I own. Plus, they look really good with Bean Boots!!

What's been on your wishlist recently?

You can do this.

Internalize those words and you're good to go.

Confidence is tough. It lacks where it shouldn't and shows up in the places you need it the least. It can drive you crazy at night with thoughts of "if only" and "I should have done this differently." The hardest part about having confidence? You have to make it; you are responsible for making it show up where you need it because as great as it would be, there isn't a magical fairy to shower you with confidence dust when you go to present a project in front of your class.

It always seems impossible until it's done

I feel as though the biggest inhibitor of confidence comes from a mindset where you doubt yourself. If you tell yourself you can't do something, there's a good chance it's not going to happen. So here's what I do: when I feel like there's no way I'm going to be able to do something, whether it's interviewing a popular guy for yearbook or auditioning for a clarinet solo in band, I just try to let go. By that, I mean I try to forget about everything that could cause me to get nervous and lack confidence. I just stop worrying.

It sounds simpler than it is. But, take a step back in your mind and think about living in the moment and not worrying about what will happen before, during, or after. Just plunge yourself into it and you'll find yourself doing something you never could have imagined. Talk about a confidence booster!

Next time you feel like you can't possibly be confident enough to do something, think to yourself, "I can do this," and just go for it!

Sweater Inspiration

With cooler temperatures rapidly approaching, I'm starting to reach into my sweater collection more and more. Last year, I stayed in my comfort zone in terms of sweater wear (button down, sweater, jeans, flats/boots) and this fall/winter, I really want to explore different styles and ways to create unique layered outfits. The first thing I want to try is pairing a sweater with leather ankle booties (look for an outfit post soon!). Here are some other ideas:

18 Sweater and Skirt Street Style Combinations - all these looks are so cute!

tartan scarf, gray sweater, black pants and gold watch

Adorable loose fall cardigan with red pants and high heel boots for fall. Also, check out the bag.

perfect for chilly days! Need to learn how to knit asap!

The Undeniable Report

Alright. This is really, really exciting. Today is the official launch of the Undeniable Report! You may have heard of Undeniable Magazine, but this a complete turn-around from that. The founder, Anna of Undeniably Anna (who is a super fabulous person, by the way), had originally created the magazine and decided that a different interface was needed to get across the vast array of content and creativity that the magazine was trying to produce. And thus, the Undeniable Report was born!

I'm very excited to be a part of this amazing community of writers. Everyone on staff has such amazing interests and skills that we've all been able to come together to form the cohesive content that makes Undeniable, well, undeniable! I've already become close with a few of the girls, and let me tell you, everyone is so neat and has their own little outlook on life. It's as if we all came out of our niches in the blogging community to create the perfect all-encompassing site!

I'm also thrilled that I was recently named the head photographer for Undeniable! Photography has always been a passion of mine, so getting to put it to use in this type of way is amazing.

My first article on the site was published yesterday, which you can read here. It's about my travels in New York this past summer!

Let me know what you all think about the Undeniable Report!

Check it out:
